These Four Former YG Entertainment Trainees Once Called “Future 2NE1” Have All Found Success Elsewhere

You’ll definitely recognize them now!

Nearly a decade ago in July 2012, YG Entertainment released a video showcasing four trainees known as “Future 2NE1“. The video showed the girls dance talent together as well as one of the trainee’s vocal skills, and it was easy to see that all of them were incredibly talented!

Despite their extended training period at YG Entertainment, however, none of the four trainees ended up debuting in a girl group at the label. Now, ten years later, each of them have become successful artists through other companies and have put their intense training at YG Entertainment to good use!

The first trainee that makes an appearance in the video is now-soloist Youha.

Youha was a trainee at YG Entertainment from 2010 until 2019. After leaving the company, she debuted as a soloist under Universal Music Korea with the digital single “Island” on September 29, 2020.

Along with being a soloist, she has also written and composed the songs of other well-known artists! These include LOONA‘s “PTT (Paint The Town)” and “Wow”, VICTON‘s “What I Said”, and JUNNY‘s “Sober”. She’s active on different social media sites, including Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

The second former trainee to appear in the YG Entertainment video is fromis_9‘s Seoyeon!

Seoyeon trained at YG Entertainment since she was in fourth grade at the age of 10 in 2010, and stayed there for 6 years until 2016 after she didn’t debut in BLACKPINK. From there, she ended up participating on the show Idol School in 2017 and ended up placing 7th overall, earning her a place in fromis_9. She debuted with the group in January 2018 under Stone Music Entertainment, and is the main rapper and vocalist to this day!

The third trainee to appear in the video is Billlie‘s Moon Sua!

She trained at YG Entertainment for a whole decade from 2009 until 2019, and even began choreographing and producing songs since her early days there. She also appeared on Unpretty Rapstar 2 in 2015, where she placed 4th overall. After leaving the label, she later was announced as a trainee at Mystic Story in February 2020, and ended up debuting in her current group Billlie in November 2021 as their main rapper and lead vocalist!

The final former trainee that appeared in the YG Entertainment video is now-soloist Roya.

She trained at YG Entertainment from 2010 until 2017, and after leaving her former label, she participated on Produce 48 as an independent trainee in 2018 and ended up placing 55th overall. She never ended up joining another label, and debuted as a soloist in May 2020 with the digital single “Butterfly”!

She’s also active on Instagram, where she has over 25k followers.
