SuperM, BLACKPINK, NCT 127 And MONSTA X Could All Be Nominated For The Same GRAMMYs Category

It could be K-Pop’s time to be recognized by the organization.

When it comes to music, no matter where in the world an artist is from, being nominated for a GRAMMY would make any one of them happy to be recognized by such a respected collective of musical professionals.

Although BTS has yet to receive any nominations due to the organization’s mysterious rules, they had a ground-breaking performance with Lil Nas X for the awards show. Based on some of the changes to those rules, there could now be quite a few K-Pop artists snatching up nominations.

Since the category for “Best New Artist” has expanded from a mere five slots to eight, it creates room to shine the spotlight on artists who deserve to be recognized—especially K-Pop artists. Who could receive those nominations? According to Forbes, MONSTA X, SuperM, BLACKPINK, and NCT 127 are the most likely to be chosen.

With MONSTA X having released an entire English album, All About Luv, dedicated to International fans, and BLACKPINK topping the charts for their “Sour Candy” collaboration with Lady Gaga, it puts both groups in the perfect position to be nominated for the category.

After taking the world by storm with their debut, supergroup SuperM charted high with their self-titled album in the United States and sold out dates for their North American Tour We Are The Future. It made them such a successful act that they could easily be nominated.

As for NCT 127, they’ve been charting so well in the United States and releasing so much that they wouldn’t have met the requirements for the category in the past. With the new changes, they could finally get their foot in the door.

Regarding this category, it could finally be time for K-Pop to really shine and receive the recognition by professionals that it truly deserves. With months before the nominations are decided anything can happen.
