Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has deleted a controversial post about songwriter Melanie Joy Fontana, following backlash from BTS fans.
On July 14, UMPG created an Instagram post that highlighted Fontana’s work on “Sweet Night”, V‘s solo track for the Itaewon Class OST. Fontana has worked with BTS on several hit songs, including their new Japanese single, “Stay Gold”.
This post, and Fontana’s first comment on it, were not well-received by some fans, who felt that Fontana was taking more than her fair share of credit for “Sweet Night”. Fontana has, however, given full credit to BTS and her co-writers on several of her own Instagram posts.
honestly fuck melanie fontana for taking all the credit to herself??? the way she words her post is not sitting right with me at all. "i ended up breaking records" NO YOU DIDN'T BREAK THOSE RECORDS, BTS DID. pic.twitter.com/sPmIEOX0yg
