Taeyeon made her first appearance on Begin Again 3, a reality show that has artists travel around the world to busk on the streets.
Considering how well-accomplished she is, many wondered why she decided to go on a busking show. Taeyeon revealed that she felt she was only singing in a well-built setting that her voice can rely on, rather than her true natural voice.
I wondered if I sang too comfortably in a great setting.
I wondered if I was only singing happily in a setting with incredible sound systems and staff, as if it were a given.
I thought it would be a good experience to have others listen to my real voice, a voice that isn’t relying on sound systems but just my natural voice. I wondered what kind of voice that was.
She also mentioned how she has been finding her own style of music since 2015. She may have debuted with Girls’ Generation 13 years ago, but she explained that much of the group’s songs didn’t fully show herself because it was a marketed concept.
I’m Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, and I debuted 13 years ago.
The music that was released through Girls’ Generation’s promotions weren’t music that I made by myself. We were a group that was created, but I was able to find a new me inside that marketed concept.
I was able to start being a solo musician after releasing my solo album in 2015.
Through this season, Taeyeon will be showcasing multiple different busking performances as she will surely amaze the world with her undeniable talent!
