The Single’s Inferno star was recently called out for wearing knockoffs of luxury brands such as Dior and Chanel during her time on the show. Netizens have since pointed out more fakes on Ji A’s personal Instagram and YouTube accounts.

After the initial wave of criticism, Ji A posted a handwritten apology letter on Instagram. In it, Ji A apologized “to everyone who was disappointed and hurt,” including the original designers. She acknowledged that the criticism was “partly true,” and she has deleted posts featuring the fake goods.

All content that show fake brands have been deleted. I also want to apologize to the brands that have had their image damaged because of me. I sincerely apologize to everyone, including fans, subscribers, and brand officials. I will live with more responsibility in the future. Thank you for reading this long post.

Since then, however, netizens have called attention to the haul videos that made Ji A famous. Back in 2019, Ji A created a video that showed her trying on some of her favorite clothes. The video went viral, racking up over 4M views and earning her an impressive following.

Netizens are now accusing Ji A of trying to pass off fake goods as real in some of her haul videos. In one, Ji A said she had purchased this bag from Chanel’s department store.

Ji A’s bag, however, has eight quilted squares across the front while the true Chanel bag has 7.

Although many fans have defended Ji A’s “faux fashion” choices, some even applauding the fake-it-until-you-make-it lifestyle, others are now feeling conflicted about Ji A’s hauls.

As some have pointed out, there is a difference between choosing to wear fake brands to promote a particular lifestyle and passing them off as the real deal.

If she knowingly lied about fake items – it makes me question what else she has lied about on her channel or about herself. In the end – I still support her and will continue watching her videos, but I do feel disappointed in her. I’m sure many of her fans feel the same way.

The real shame is using luxury brands to present an image of wealth & success. For the average fan or viewer wearing replicas doesnt mean much. But for the people & businesses she was trying to impress, it is embarassing.

I feel conflicted about this…On the one hand, who cares, let people live, Jia didn’t murder anyone – she tried to pass off reps as authentic and now she’s being publicly shamed for it. It seems like we build people up and love to then tear them down – especially young women.

On the other hand – not just Jia, but influencers in general are doing very real public harm especially to the young impressionable girls who look up to them.
