Universal Music Group China and Ariana Grande‘s manager Scooter Braun have both responded to the rumors regarding the removal of Kris Wu’s debut album, Antares, from the iTunes Store Charts.
Recently, Apple was rumored to have removed Antares from the iTunes Store Charts after Kris was accused of boosting his sales to take #1 on the album chart. 7 out of the top 10 songs in the US iTunes Chart were from Kris’s album as of 11:57 pm EST, November 5. On November 6, at 7:06 pm EST, all 7 songs allegedly disappeared from the charts.
At the time, fans suspected Ariana Grande’s involvement for several reasons. One is that the alleged removal of Kris’s album allowed Ariana Grande and Queen to rise to #1 on the song and album charts, respectively.

Universal Music Group China has since released an official statement regarding the incident. They explained that Kris’ music was never removed from iTunes, and that they will be taking legal action against those who continue to spread false rumors.
The issue seemed to finally come to rest as Scooter Braun also responded to the controversy where he explained that Kris’s fans used iTunes to access Antares early, since its release had been held back in China, due to Kris’s birthday.
“Last night we had an opportunity to connect and talk and show respect. We learned of each other since many rumors have come out about both us in connection to his newest release.
It was explained to he and I last night that because his release was held back in China for his birthday his fans went and got the music any way they could and that was US iTunes. Once the release in China took place the fans had their access. He has never been removed from the charts on iTunes. That is false. Those were real people from the US and international community and not bots like many have rumored.
I have never wished anything bad for Kris nor any other artist and those saying otherwise are wrong. Any fans of anyone I manage who are using this opportunity to spread any sort of division or racism are dead wrong and I won’t stand for it. The music community is international and no longer held by borders.
Kris happy birthday and you showed yourself to be a global star. Glad we got to connect and speak and keep your head held high. This is just the first of many achievements for you. And for those using my name for false rumors now you know exactly where I stand. Keep it positive.”
— Scooter Braun
Scooter Braun also followed up with a Tweet wishing Kris a happy birthday.

Despite the explanation from Kris’s agency and Scooter Braun, netizen responses to the situation have been split. Some are not satisfied with the explanations as they continue to demand that Ariana Grande and he formally apologize to Kris.
