Two of the most unlikely idols teamed up for a collaboration, and it was none other than Jay Park and IU! The duo recently released their track “GANADARA.”
From the minute the music video was released, netizens quickly fell in love with the duo’s chemistry as they both showcased their talent and charisma.
Yet, aside from their chemistry, netizens couldn’t stop gushing about just how much Jay Park respects IU as an artist. Also, they loved how much he wanted to collaborate with her to start with.
Netizens were treated to even more content between the two when IU invited Jay Park to her YouTube series IU Palette. They shared some TMI from the recording TMI, how the collaboration happened, and their fondness for each other.
In particular, IU and Jay Park discussed their previous interactions in the past. In particular, IU is known to invite special guests to join her when she performs on tour. The idol remembered when she asked Jay Park to join her, but he couldn’t.
I asked if you can be a guest star in my concert but sadly you were overseas performing at that time. So it didn’t work out.
Jay Park recalled that he was in Singapore at the time, and IU was surprised that he remembered exactly where he was at the time. Yet, it was once again Jay Park’s admiration for IU that meant it was ingrained in his mind, and he also joked why he couldn’t join.
Yes, because I felt very honored to be invited to IU’s concert, but sadly the penalty for the breach was too high, so I couldn’t cancel that schedule.
— Jay Park
Yet, Jay Park then joked that he would completely ignore the “penalty” to make sure he could perform with IU if he went back in time.
If I was in my current state back then, my soju is kind of booming. I would’ve done that and just left it.
— Jay Park
IU then joked that when they are able to restart concerts, Jay Park would be the first artist she calls to join her. She even added if something like that was to happen again, Jay Park was adamant that nothing would stop him from performing.
I won’t arrange any overseas schedules from now on (until IU schedules a concert). For like five years…
— Jay Park
However, it isn’t surprising that Jay Park would risk it all for IU. In a past interview that has resurfaced, Jay Park revealed that the female idol was his ideal type…
Even in the rest of IU’s Palette, Jay Park couldn’t stop gushing about wanting to work with IU and even explained that it was the reason he was so quick to contact her about a collaboration when she asked.
The respect between IU and Jay Park is undeniable and it isn’t unsurprising that the chemistry and talent in their collaboration were definitely off the charts. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time IU and Jay Park collaborate.
