Former BTOB Member Jung Ilhoon Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison For Purchasing And Using Marijuana

He was also fined over $100,000 USD.

Former BTOB member Jung Ilhoon was sentenced to two years in prison and fined ₩133 million KRW (about $119,000 USD) for purchasing and using marijuana.

Seoul Central District Court senior judge Yang Cheol Han presided over Jung Ilhoon’s first sentencing earlier on June 10, KST and sentenced Jung Ilhoon to two years in prison for habitual marijuana usage. Prosecution previously demanded four years in prison for his crimes.

Yang Cheol Han also deemed it necessary to arrest Jung Ilhoon in court, as he believed there was a possibility of Jung Ilhoon fleeing.

Jung Ilhoon is suspected of working with seven other people to purchase ₩133 million KRW (about $119,000 USD) worth of marijuana over a 30 month span between July 2016 and January 2019. He has also been accused of using marijuana 161 times in that same timeframe. His lawyers pleaded for leniency during his trials, stating Jung Ilhoon had a difficult time as an idol.

The defendant is reflecting deeply on his actions. He was fearful as it was the first trial and investigation of his life. He worked in the entertainment industry at such a young age and he tried to relieve the stress in the wrong way.
