The Complete Guide On Everything You Need To Know About 2017 Korean Year-End Award Shows

With the year coming to a close, everyone has been anticipating the numerous year-end festivals and award shows, but the general strike led by employees of Korea’s major networks have, until now, left their future uncertain.

In spite of the ongoing strike, MBC, KBS, and SBS, have announced their intentions to broadcast many of the annuals shows as planned.

Here’s what we know about the award shows so far:

2017 MBC Drama Awards

The 2017 MBC Drama Awards will be proceeding as planned, but with one major change to its structure.

Due to past controversies in the award process, MBC has elected to change the way nominations and winners are decided upon.

That is, starting this year, the MBC Drama Awards will not be 100% decided by the audience’s vote.

Instead, in order to bolster the credibility and prestige of the awards, drama experts and close officials will analyze and decide the nominees.

Whether or not this results in a drastic change to the overall award show, only time will tell.

Naturally, this event is being heavily anticipated as the hilarious stars of such MBC comedies as Infinite Challenge will be in attendance.

2017 KBS Drama and Music Awards

KBS, like MBC, has decided to go ahead with their drama and music award show, but have yet to release a statement regarding this year’s entertainment awards.

Nevertheless, the event will be held on December 29th, 2017.

SBS, on the other hand, has finalized their glamourous line-up for its 2017 Gayo Daejeon
