It’s only been a year since BTS and Big Hit Entertainment joined hands with UNICEF for the Love Myself campaign.

The Korean UNICEF committee has announced that the campaign has reached over 1.6 billion won or about $1.4 million USD in donations.

“Through the ‘Speak Yourself’ speech at the United Nations meeting and more, [they] have spread their positive influence.”

The full amount will go to the End Violence campaign which not only seeks to end violence against youth but also supports youths who are struggling physically and mentally due to their experiences with violence.

The campaign, dedicated to ending violence against youths, is being celebrated domestically through a BTS Love Yourself photo zone in Seoul.

“My heart was so full when I heard BTS’s touching speech at the September UN meeting. That evening, I met with a diplomat who said to me ‘Korea has 2 great achievements in the last 60 years. The first was attaining democracy and industrialization and the second was the production of BTS.’ With how much hope and positive influence BTS’s Love Myself campaign has given to the world’s youths, one can estimate how much Korea’s national prestige has improved. Given this, there is deep meaning to this celebration of the Love Yourself campaign.”

— Lee Ki Cheol, Secretary General of the Korean UNICEF Committee
