Big Hit Entertainment Is Finally Opening Auditions To Female Applicants

After many years, women have a shot at becoming Big Hit trainees.

Are you hoping to debut under the company that brought the world BTS and TXT? Here’s your chance!

Each year, Big Hit Entertainment holds invites “individuals with talent and passion” from around the world to submit online applications and audition in person. Unfortunately for female singers, dancers, and rappers, the auditions have only been open to males.

Earlier this month, Big Hit Audition announced yet another annual round of auditions, only open to males born in 2003 or later.

Big Hit Entertainment’s first and only girl group, GLAM, debuted in 2012 and disbanded in 2015 after multiple controversies. GLAM’s failure is largely believed to be the reason why Big Hit Entertainment switched its focus to boy groups only.

On June 17, Big Hit Entertainment finally reopened its doors to female talent. Unfortunately for international fans, only females from Japan can audition at this time, but it’s a start! The applicants must have been born after January 1, 2001, be currently living in Japan, and have no current ties to other entertainment companies. Even those with no vocal/dance experience are welcome to apply through the Big Hit Japan Audition official LINE, linked in their tweet.
