f(x)’s Amber Reveals She Has Left SM Entertainment

She has left the company.

Amber has just revealed through her personal Instagram that she has decided to leave SM Entertainment after spending 12 years with the company.

Hi Everyone, I would like to announce my contract with SM Entertainment has ended today and I have decided to part ways with the company. From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank everyone who believed in me and have been so patient with me all these years. I can’t wait to show you what’s in store in this next chapter of my career. She revealed her decision in a handwritten letter in both English and Korea, sharing that her contract expired today, September 1, and she chose not to sign a new contract with SM Entertainment.

Amber joined SM Entertainment in 2008 after being cast in a global audition, and debuted with f(x) in 2009. Just this past month, f(x) performed together as a group for the first time in 4 years, giving hope to MeU’s that the group would be able to make a comeback again.

Amber becomes the second member of f(x) to leave either the group or the agency. Sulli left f(x) in August 2015 to focus on acting, and Amber talked about her departure from the group.
