Actor Sol Kyung Gu drops lawsuit against a malicious commenter

Veteran actor Sol Kyung Gu, has dropped the lawsuit against a malicious commenter for defaming him and his wife and actress Song Yun Ah.

As of June 3rd (KST), the Seoul Central District Court had dismissed a 36-year-old housewife Kim, who had been sued for defamation. The judge stated, “Abiding by the law, the case can be brought up if there is an actual lawsuit claimed by the victim, but victim Sol Kyung Gu has dropped the lawsuit against the defendant on May 27th.”

Previously, the actor filed a lawsuit against Kim in 2013 for the two occasions of leaving slandering comments on a photo and article of Sol Kyung Gu’s family. Defamation is a crime punishable by up to one year of imprisonment, community service, and a 2,000,000 won fine. However, as explained by the judge, a perpetrator can be indicted (and, if convicted, punished) only if the victim reports the defamation.
