2PM’s Wooyoung Describes Just How Poor He Was When “Heartbeat” Hit Number 1

“Heartbeat” was 2PM’s very first music broadcast win.

2PM‘s Wooyoung recently appeared on Mnet‘s KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR where he offered his advice to Stray Kids.

While preparing for their performance of “Side Effects”, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan compared the song to 2PM’s “Heartbeat” and asked Wooyoung how they performed the song.

2PM’s “Heartbeat” was released back in 2009 and it scored the group their first 1st place win on a music broadcast.

But what Wooyoung had to say about those times was the struggles he faced.

Back then, I had no money, and I was hungry. I have a lot to say about those times, but I’ll refrain.

— Wooyoung

Wooyoung then offered advice about performing on stage.

You can never go on stage without knowing what you’re doing. Image training is important. Or else you’ll come off and have no idea what you just did.

— Wooyoung

He even went on to praise Stray Kids’ practice footage and told him it was so refreshing and amazing that all they had to do was own it.

Go up there with confidence like, ‘I know it all. I don’t care if I make a mistake.’

— Wooyoung

Spoken like a true “sunbae”!
