Here Is Where The 16 Eliminated Contestants From “I-LAND” Are Now

Some are still trainees, and some have debuted!

I-LAND, the survival show produced by BELIFT Labs that resulted in the formation of ENHYPEN, aired from June 26, 2020 until September 18, 2020. With 23 contestants total, and seven of those contestants — HeeseungJayJakeSunghoonSunooJungwon, and Ni-ki — ending up in ENHYPEN, there are 16 other talented guys from the show who have gone on to either train longer, debut in a group, or pursue other careers! Here is what we know about where the eliminated contestants from I-LAND are today.

1. K

K was only one placement away from ending up in ENHYPEN, eliminated on the final episode of the show. Fortunately, on January 1, 2021, it was announced that he was a pre-debut member of HYBE Labels Japan‘s Global Debut Project boy group, tentatively named &AUDITION Boys, which is set to debut in 2022.

2. Daniel

Daniel was the other final contestant on I-LAND that was unfortunately eliminated in the last episode of the show. He was the youngest participant on I-LAND — only 14 at the time it aired — and it sounds like he is still a trainee at BELIFT Labs at this time.

3. Hanbin (TEMPEST)

Hanbin was eliminated during Part 2 of I-LAND, not quite making it to the final episode. Later in 2020, he had a solo online fanmeeting called “Hanbin !00%” on October 31, and even opened a personal Twitter account as well. He also performed a solo stage at the BigHit NYEL Concert to the song “I&Credible.” However, in June 2021, it was announced that he had left BELIFT Labs and signed on with Yuehua Entertainment. On March 2, 2022, he debuted with rookie group TEMPEST, where he now has the position as he group’s lead vocalist and lead dancer.

4. Taki

Taki also made it to Part 2 of I-LAND but was eliminated before the final episode. Like K, he was also announced as a pre-debut member of HYBE Labels Japan’s Global Debut Project boy group on January 1, 2021, and is planning to debut with them sometime this year.

5. Geonu (JUST B)

Geonu was the final contestant that made it to Part 2 of I-LAND, but was eliminated before the final episode. He opened a personal Twitter account on February 2, 2021, and later that year on May 24, it was announced that he was a trainee under Bluedot Entertainment and would debut in their upcoming boy group. The group, JUST B, debuted on June 30, 2021, and Geonu has the position as their lead vocalist.

6. Choi Jaeho

Jaeho was one of the final contestants eliminated during Part 1 of I-LAND. He has been relatively quiet since then, but it’s assumed that he is still a trainee with BELIFT Labs. He also has a personal Instagram account.

7. Choi Seon

Seon is another contestant that unfortunately didn’t make it past Part 1 of I-LAND. However, he has gone on to have what seems to be a successful career! He’s now a songwriter and producer with producing team CIELOGROOVE, where he works under the name ON. He also released his own SoundCloud exclusive, “Die For You”, on March 14 this year.

8. JM (JUST B)

JM was eliminated on the seventh episode of I-LAND, and thus unable to progress to Part 2 of the show. On May 29, 2021, it was announced that he was a trainee at Bluedot Entertainment alongside former I-LAND contestant Hanbin, and he also debuted with JUST B on June 30 that year. He’s now the group’s sub-vocalist and visual.

9. EJ

EJ was also eliminated on the seventh episode of I-LAND. Alongside K and Taki, however, he was announced as an upcoming member of HYBE Labels Japan’s upcoming boy group, &AUDITION Boys, and should debut sometime in 2022.

10. Jo Kyungmin

Kyungmin was another former contestant that was eliminated on the seventh episode of the show. He, too, was announced to be a member of HYBE Labels Japan’s upcoming boy group, but on May 31, 2021, a new announcement was made saying that he had left the label due to differences in directions being sought between him and the company.

11. Jung Jaebeom

Another contestant eliminated on episode seven, Jaebeom has fortunately gone on to make a name for himself in other ways! He’s now a producer and songwriter under the name Jeong Echan, and works with the producing team YOUTH. He is credited for writing songs for GHOST9 and Park Jihoon, and he also has a personal Instagram account.

12. Kim Tae Yong

Taeyong, too, was eliminated on the seventh episode of I-LAND. He was a child actor before appearing on the show, debuting back in 2011 on season 2 of the K-Drama Quiz of God, and has appeared in various dramas and movies since then as well. It doesn’t seem like he has been in anything since his time on I-LAND, but he does have a personal Instagram account.

13. Youngbin (BLANK2Y)

Youngbin was also eliminated on the seventh episode of I-LAND. Afterwards, he was featured in the single “CIELOGROOVE Project Vol.2”, part of the CIELOGROOVE project, on October 28, 2021, and on December 16 the same year, Keystone Entertainment announced that he was the first member of their upcoming boy group, BLANK2Y. The group is set to debut on May 24, 2022.

14. Nicholas

Nicholas’s story is similar to several others on this list. He was eliminated on the seventh episode of the show, and early in 2021, he was announced to be a trainee with HYBE Labels Japan, also planning to debut in &AUDITION Boys sometime this year!

15. Noh Sungchul

Sungchul was the final contestant eliminated on episode seven of the show. He has been relatively quiet since then, and it’s assumed he’s still a trainee with BELIFT Labs.

16. Kim Yoonwon

Yoonwon, sadly, left the survival show before elimination due to a worsening injury. Not much is known about where he is now, but fans still hope that he will get the chance to debut someday!
