4 Groups From JYP Entertainment Who Went Through Member Departures Not Long After Their Debut

This is just strange.

JYP Entertainment is considered one of the most successful K-Pop agencies, and some of the most iconic artists in K-Pop have debuted under the company. However, there is something “odd” that has happened to nearly every group in the company.

That is that nearly every group under JYP Entertainment has had a member unexpectedly leave after their debut. Here’s a look at some of the groups under JYP Entertainment that experienced this.

1. Wonder Girls

Wonder Girls’ debut lineup

When Wonder Girls debuted, they were a 5 member group. However, not long after their debut, HyunA ended up leaving the group.

When HyunA left the group, it was a shock to many as the news came out of nowhere. There were many speculations on why she left the group, but it was eventually revealed that she left the group due to concerns from her parents.

HyunA later joined Cube Entertainment, which is where she debuted as a member of 4MINUTE. She then signed with P-NATION after getting kicked out of Cube Entertainment for dating former PENTAGON member Dawn.

2. Day6

DAY6’s debut lineup

Day6 originally debuted as a 6 member band in 2015. However, in early 2016, Junhyeok ended up leaving the group due to “personal reasons”.

Some have speculated that he actually got kicked out of the group for dating someone. JYP Entertainment artists are banned from dating for the first 3 years of their careers, so Junhyeok would have been breaking the rule if the dating rumors were true.

3. Stray Kids

Stray Kids’ debut lineup

Stray Kids debuted as a 9 member group in 2018. However, Woojin shockingly “left” the group in 2019, which JYP Entertainment said was due to “personal reasons”.

Many have speculated that Woojin actually got kicked out of the group, as the news came out of nowhere. Bang Chan also made an ambiguous statement during a live broadcast, which many believed was hinting at Woojin.

Woojin was also recently accused of sexual assault, drugging and impregnating a fansite, and creating a false company.

4. 2PM

2PM’s debut lineup

2PM debuted as a 7 member group in 2008, with Jay Park (also known as Park Jaebeom) being their leader.

However, Jay Park faced a lot of backlash from netizens after some past Myspace posts showed him bashing Korea and Korean people.

This controversy eventually led to Jay Park leaving 2PM and JYP Entertainment.

Bonus: ITZY

ITZY

Before ITZY debuted, it was heavily speculated that Jeon Somi was going to debut in the group.

However, Jeon Somi shockingly left JYP Entertainment in 2018 and signed with The Black Label, which is a subsidiary of YG Entertainment.
