Lee Kwang Soo cast as male lead for upcoming film “Mutant”

Earlier today, it was confirmed that popular actor Lee Kwang Soo was cast as the male lead in the upcoming Korean movie Mutant.

There had been earlier reports of the actor being considered for the movie, as well as that the movie would begin filming on November 10th. Rumors about the casting were confirmed, and with that filming will begin by the end of this year. Lee Kwang Soo has received recognition for his acting in the 2014 movie Confession, as well as for drama roles in MBC drama Dong Yi, SBS drama City Hunter, and SBS drama It’s Okay, That’s Love.

The movie will be directed by Kwon Oh Kwang, who won the “Best Short Film” award at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2013 for the movie Safe. The film will be part of CJ E&M’s Butterfly Project, which is a collaboration between the company and Korea National University of Arts, with the aim to discover new talent.

In addition to his work as an actor, Kwang Soo is also a permanent member of SBS variety show Running Man where his popularity has earned him the title “Prince of Asia.”
