“Ex-Girlfriend Club” with Song Ji Hyo and Byun Yo Han shortens series by 4 episodes

Producers for ongoing tvN drama Ex-Girlfriend Club have decided to conclude the drama series earlier than planned.

Initially planned for a total of 16 episodes, the drama will now end on its 12th episode. The drama has aired eight episodes until now, naming “drama competition” as the reason for bringing forward the final episode date. According to sources, “To enhance completion of the drama, it is confirmed that it will end on the 12th episode. In particular, the remaining four episodes will showcase an increased pace in plot development with a focus on Song Ji Hyo and Byun Yo Han.”

As suggested by the drama’s title, the plot revolves around Bang Myung Soo’s (Byun Yo Han’s) ex-girlfriends Nah Ji Ah (played by Jang Ji Eun), Jang Hwa Young (Lee Yoon Ji), and Ra Ra (Hwayoung), so the three actresses have a significant amount of screen time, but now viewers can expect to see more scenes between the main couple.

Many are speculating if the real reason for the early closure of the show is due to its viewer ratings. Ex-Girlfriend Club started off with a not-too-bad rating as a cable channel drama of 1.16%, but started to face a downward trend for its following episodes with ratings less than 1%.

Ex-Girlfriend Club airs every Friday and Saturday at 8:30PM KST and will air its last episode on June 13th.
